Christy Nolta Shares an Inside Look at Military Transparency

Last June, PRSA presented the Air Force with the “Best of Silver Anvil Award” for its program to facilitate media coverage of flag-draped coffins bearing the remains of U.S. service personnel arriving at Dover Air Force Base.   During the PRSA International Conference in Washington, D.C., Christy Nolta, deputy director, U.S. Air Force Public Affairs, took time to speak with “On the Record…Online,” about the award-winning campaign, ”A Solemn View: Public Affairs Provides a Window to American Service Members’ Ultimate Sacrifice.” She discusses the media relations program the Air Force developed to facilitate coverage that was consistent with the wishes of each family. Nolta also presented a Conference session titled, “The Dignified Transfer of Fallen Heroes: Implementing the New Policy of Transparency.”

Rebecca Lieb, vice president, Econsultancy, speaks with Sally Falkow, guest host of “On the Record…Online,” about search engine optimization (SEO) in public relations. During the PRSA International Conference in Washington, D.C., Lieb presented a session titled, “PR Pros and Social Media: Now What?”   Lieb is vice president of Econsultancy's U.S. operations. An expert in interactive marketing and advertising and a sought-after speaker, she was formerly editorial consultant and contributor to The ClickZ Network after serving as its editor-in-chief for over seven years. Until recently, Lieb taught at New York University's Center for Publishing, where she also served on the Electronic Publishing Advisory Group.  

Barcelona Declaration of Measurement Principles

"The value of PR is not equal to the cost of advertising" says David Rockland, partner at Ketchum and chair of the Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) is the featured guest in this special episode of the PR Podcast On the Record...Online produced in association with PRSA.   According to the recently released Barcelona Declaration of Measurement Principles, which are the subject of this podcast, if clients insist on incorporating advertising value into their measurement of public relations, that value should not be called the value of the public relations campaign and should be based on wholesale advertising rates and adjusted for quality.   The principles were voted on and declared at a conference organized by the (AMEC) and the Institute for Public Relations with the support of PRSA, The Global Alliance, IPR Measurement Commission and ICCO...
